Founded in 2006 by Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari Classiche provides restoration and maintenance services, technical assistance and Certificates of Authenticity to owners of classic road-going Ferraris over 20 years old and all Ferrari competition cars, including Formula 1 single-seaters of any age. This exclusive Certificate, only issued by the Classiche headquarters in Maranello, officially attests to the cars authenticity and provides vital documentation for buyers seeking these highly valued certified vehicles. As well, this certification enables the cars to participate in official Ferrari events including the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge in Europe and North America.
During the certification process, the cars undergo a scrutinizing inspection at the 950 square meter Maranello factory. Here, utilizing Ferraris historical archives, a select committee of experts known as COCER (Certification Committee) chaired by Ferrari VP Piero Ferrari evaluate the technical characteristics of each car seeking certification. This process reveals whether the car is fully functioning and if the chassis, engine, gearbox, transmission, suspension, brakes, wheels, bodywork and interior are original or comply with the original specifications.
However, in 2009, a change was introduced to allow select cars not meeting the stringent requirements to earn certification. While not considered to be authentic these cars must meet precise criteria to be considered for certification. The actual configuration of the car must have participated in national or international competitions. Or, the actual configuration of the car is the result of modifications by designers/coachbuilders of international fame within ten years of the cars construction date and has taken part in car shows or Concours dElegance or published in special magazines.
Should you have a classic Ferrari that youd like to be considered for this prestigious certification, we will be happy to assist you in every possible manner.
